GIB UK becomes a signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking

04/20 Gulf International Bank UK Limited

London April 21, 2020 – Gulf International Bank (UK) (GIB (UK)) has become an official Signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking, which is a single framework for a sustainable banking industry developed through an innovative partnership between banks worldwide and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI).

The Principles for Responsible Banking set out the banking industry’s role and responsibility in shaping a sustainable future and in aligning the banking sector with the objectives of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.

The need to become more sustainable in the banking sector has never been more pressing. At GIB (UK), we recognise this and are committed to playing a central role in stimulating a more sustainable way of doing business. We do this by aligning our strategies with the principles and objectives of sustainable development.

Katherine Garrett-Cox, CEO, GIB (UK) said: “We are delighted that GIB (UK) are committing to the UNEP FI Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB). At GIB (UK), we are conscious of the mark we leave, and we are reaffirming our commitment by working alongside the PRB to continue to provide our services responsibly.”
